RESIDENCY IN GENERAL PSYCHIATRY
Applications for eight PGY-I residency positions are accepted via ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service. At least three letters of recommendation from supervisors are required by the Johns Hopkins Residency in General Psychiatry.Five additional residents are chosen at the PGY-II level. UM/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program Application Process
Each year, we have six or seven PGY-2 positions available and welcome applicants for PGY-2 positions.Applications for PGY-1 residency positions will be accepted only through ERAS. We encourage applicants for PGY- 2, 3, 4 positions to apply through ERAS. However, we will accept paper applications.Please make sure the following information is included with your ERAS application:
A letter of recommendation from the dean of your medical school (MSPE), transcript and two letters of recommendation should be submitted through the ERAS system.
USMLE scores for both Part I and Part II.
ECFMG certificate - International medical graduates must meet ECFMG certification requirements.
If you have a specific time period in which you need to interview, please indicate the dates in your personal statement.
Please use the Personal Statement to include any information you would like to share with us that is not covered in the other sections of the application.
Due to the high volume of applications, we, unfortunately, cannot personally acknowledge receipt of applications. However, faculty review all applications received.
Personal interviews will be granted on a competitive basis. Interviews are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays, starting in October and running through February. The interview day begins at 8 AM and ends at approximately 4:30 PM. We will contact you by e-mail or phone if we would like you to come for an interview. Please make sure to include your e-mail address and a daytime phone. If your e-mail address changes, please make sure you notify us. You should also change your e-mail address on your ERAS application.
