For International Medical Graduates Applying for PGY-1 positions:

This separate letter is an attempt to answer questions that are regularly asked by international graduates when they are considering applying to our Program.
1. Is there a cut-off date for graduation from medical school? No. We consider each application on an individual basis.
2. Do we support visas? Not as an Institution.
Do we accept visas? Yes, we accept J-1 visas only if they are granted through ECFMG. We generally do not initiate or support H-1 or other visas.
3. Do we accept applications outside of the Match? No. We only accept applications through ERAS, and we fill all of our PGY-I positions through the NRMP.
4. Is there a cut-off score for USMLE exams? No.
What if the exam was failed on the first or second attempt? We will generally not consider your application if you have failed any of the Steps, even if you have subsequently passed the exam(s).
5. Must I submit my USMLE scores? Yes.
6. Does the applicant need U.S. clinical experience? Yes.
What kind? Supervised clinical experience of at least one month’s duration. Although preferable, this experience does not have to be in psychiatry.
7. Do we require letters from U.S. clinical supervisors? Yes.
8. On what date do we stop accepting applications? We have no formal cut-off date, but when our available interview slots have been filled (usually early November), we no longer read applications. This includes applications that had arrived earlier but were incomplete in any of the following ways: no USMLE report; applicant not ECFMG-certified (unless because applicant is currently finishing medical school); personal statement not included; fewer than 3 letters included.
9. Must the applicant be ECFMG certified to apply? Unless you have not yet graduated from medical school, you MUST be ECFMG certified at the time of application (probably late October) for us to read your application and make a decision regarding an invitation to interview.

Failure in exam is exclusionary for this program"
